MicroKernele from Microsoft

Currently, intensive work by MS on new kernels OS'ów in the future have to replace the NT kernel interconnect technology currently used in Windows. present their 4RY: Helios, Barrelfish, Midori and Singularity. I will try to briefly describe what I am most curious in their descriptions.

Helios - the assumptions should be a system based on multiple cores. Kernel principal is to be written into the main processor and it will initiate another kernel responsible for controlling each device. In this way, the kernel is to be minimalist and devoid of unnecessary services and drivers. They will only deal with process management, memory menedżerowaniem, menedżerowaniem code address space and coordinating communication between the nuclei.

Singularity and Midori - Kernel that assumption to be error-free design of Operating Systems of the 70s. At the same time microkernel to be interesting and what it takes to Eric Rudder, senior vice president of technical strategy at Microsoft. So the project is treated seriously, and the most interesting is that it can be legally downloaded.

What's amazing is that Microsoft spent more and more resources to microkernele, apparently withdraw from the trend in the construction of hybrid kernels for many years in their current firm, and trying to persuade the community to these projects.

may arise very interesting situation when BarrelFish and Helios will become the basis of new systems from Microsoft, then it UNIXes designed for multicore and multiprocessing are placed against the wall because the system of competition will be in a great way to work with multiple processors available on your computer.

How will it end? See themselves in a few years

BeleniX Net Install

Hello. I wanted to share with you an interesting possibility in OpenSolaris
which is to install OpenSolaris distr - BeleniX within the system and its choice of grub.

Requirements: OpenSolaris 2009.06 or later, GCC:)
net pretty fast and be patient because this version of the Alpha so it will be underdeveloped.
http://www.belenix.org/binfiles/install_belenix

chmod + x. / Install_belenix or chmod + x .. / install_belenix (if an option does not work)

. / install_belenix

The whole process takes about half an hour (depending on connection speed),
after installing grub we have a choice of BeleniX,
who sometimes refuses to obey but the fact of such a possibility is interesting and innovative
